The monthly Vulcan Booster Club luncheon is noon Tuesday at Coquis.

Speaking will be University of Hawaii at Hilo men’s basketball coach GE Coleman and women’s basketball coach David Kaneshiro.

Pilipaa seeks U14-16 girls

Pilipa’a Girls Volleyball will be holding a tryout from noon-4 p.m. Saturday at Shipman Gym in Keaau for under-14, U15 and U16 players, depending on the amount of interest and grade level of players trying out.

A limited number of new players will be accepted.

Cuzin’s tryouts set for Nov. 10

The Keaukaha Cuzin’s 16 and under girls volleyball team will hold tryouts from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at Kawananakoa Gym in Keaukaha.

According to a release, under the direction of Coach Kawaileleohi`ilawe, student-athletes will be instructed in the fundamentals, methods, principles and keys featured in gold medal squared coaching clinics.

The team will participate in island tournaments and qualifying to play in the USA Girls Junior National Volleyball Championship in Indianapolis, Ind., or the AAU Junior National Volleyball Championship in Orlando, Fla.

Athletes are asked to bring gear and a water bottle and to be prepared to learn, work out and have fun.

Wood bat league

Players 35 and older are sought for a baseball wood bat league.

Games will be held twice a month with modified rules.

If interested, come to Pepeekeo Field at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Vuls softball Keiki Night

The UH-Hilo softball program will host a Keiki Night fundraiser from 6-9 p.m. at UH-Hilo gym.

Hosted by coach Peejay Brun, assistant coach Haunani Haasenritter and the squad, the festivities include games, entertainment, refreshments and pizza for keiki in grades 1-8.

Rates are $15 per keiki; sibling deals of two for $25; family plan of three or more at $10 each.

HGEA tennis play

A Hawaii Government Employees Association tennis fun day is set for noon-4 p.m. Sunday at Edith Kanaka’ole Multipurpose Stadium.

HGEA members and their guests are invited to participate in social tennis doubles.

Tennis balls will be provided.
